TRAINING TIMELINE
Basics Mastery: Normally takes about 6 months to master the basics of Muay Thai basics, potentially getting through 1-2 khan depending on dedication to training.
Debut Fight Potential: Within 8-16 months depending on focus.
Intermediate Level: 3rd to 4th khan be achieved with 18 months - 2 years of dedicated and focused training. But Mastery of this level can take around 4 years.
Elite Fighter Level: This typically takes around 10 years of dedicated training and application.
SENIOR & INSTRUCTOR RANKINGS
The KMA recognizes different instructor ranks, based on years of teaching experience:

Master (Arjan): Requires a minimum of 25 years of teaching Muay Thai.

Assistant Master (Kru Yai): Requires at least 20 years of teaching experience.

Teacher (Kru): Requires 10 - 12 years of experience and teaching.

Assistant Kru (Apprentice Teacher): Requires around 6 years of teaching experience.
JOURNEY FROM KRU TO ARJAN
Becoming a Kru in Muay Thai involves extensive experience, a deep understanding of techniques, traditions, and philosophies, and the ability to impart knowledge effectively. The journey typically takes about a decade or more, depending on individual dedication and skill progression.
To advance from Kru to Arjan, students must have dedicated at least 20 years to Muay Thai and be around 40 years of age or older. Higher Khan grades are awarded to individuals showing lifelong commitment to the art, excelling in teaching, training, and promoting Muay Boran at the highest level.
MUAY THAI MASTERS GRADING SYSTEM
Developed under the leadership of Arjan Vinnie Deckon and our lead coaches, our system is inspired by the teachings of Grand Master Woody and other Grand Masters of the Kru Muay Association (KMA).
This comprehensive system recognizes and rewards proficiency in Muay Thai and Muay Boran, focusing on the holistic development of Thai martial arts skills beyond just fighting.
KHAN RANKING SYSTEM
Our grading system takes students from Khan 1 to Khan 12. Higher Khan levels can be obtained through the Kru Muay Association in Thailand.
Khan 1-3 (Beginner Levels):
You are introduced to the fundamentals of Muay Thai, gaining a solid understanding of the art and reaching an intermediate level.
Khan 4-7 (Intermediate Levels):
You gain a deeper understanding of Muay Thai techniques and begin learning Mae Mai and Luk Mai techniques, the foundational aspects of Muay Boran.
Khan 8-10 (Advanced Levels):
You gain deeper insight into Muay Thai and Muay Boran. Achieving Khan 10 is equivalent to attaining a black belt and includes assisting with teaching.
Khan 11-12 (Teaching Levels):
Aspiring teachers start at the 4th Khan level, developing teaching skills through Khan 11, which involves two years of specialized training. Completion qualifies a student for the 12th Khan Kru (teacher) status.
